Leyda is the pioneer and expert from Leyda Valley because they were the first to plant vines in the Valley in 1998. In 2002, they proved that the wines represented a new style, achieving the creation of the D.O. Leyda Valley.
Focus on cool climate varieties
Leyda Valley is located on the west side of the Coastal Range of Chile, only 4-12 km from the Pacific Ocean. They enjoy a cool climate with a pronounced marine influence and low temperatures. This allows a slow rate of ripening of the grapes, which enhances flavors, aromas, and natural acidity and adds a saline character to the wines.
Micro-terroir and micro-vinification management
The terroir is an exceptional one because the coastal range has the oldest soils of Chile, over 120 million years old granitic soils and they found 4 different kinds of soils in the valley. Leyda’s winemaking philosophy is always working with perfection, meticulous with the details, and in a handcrafted way to produce high-quality wines.
